Cantare is a poem written by Primo Levi, reflecting upon his years and survival of the holocaust. The piano accompaniment is playful, echoing perhaps the music of one's childhood. Hidden beneath the playful rhythm and mostly playful melody is a chromatic and clashing harmony which emulates the terror brewing beneath the surface of happy times.
